Best aspects: Dr. Ross is an amazing lecturer who makes every class engaging, meaningful, and relevant to real-world social work practice. He has a gift for explaining complex ideas in ways that are clear, memorable, and thought-provoking. His passion for the material is contagious, and I often left class feeling inspired to think more deeply, challenge assumptions, and become a stronger future professional.
What stands out most is how much he genuinely cares about his students. He creates a welcoming classroom where people feel respected, supported, and comfortable contributing. His expectations are high, but he provides the guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback students need to succeed. He recognizes students’ strengths while also challenging them to grow.
Dr. Ross does more than teach course content—he inspires students to believe in their ability to make a difference. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, authentic, and one of the most impactful professors I have had. Take his class if you want a professor who will challenge you, support you, and help you see both the profession and yourself in new ways.
Could improve: At times, his depth of knowledge means he moves quickly, but he is always willing to clarify. His classes challenge and support you.
